Salt industry

Brief introduction

Salt industry comprises companies that operate by various processes that include extraction of salt from mines and brine pits, extraction of salt from underground by dissolving and pumping, the evaporation of seawater, and crushing, purifying and refining salt.

The geomembranes can be used as liners in evaporation ponds in the salt industry. Water is pumped into and out of the underground salt layer through the well, bringing the brine solution to the surface. The sun evaporates the water, leaving the brine to crystallize into salt.

When extracting materials from water, evaporation ponds are a fairly inexpensive option. The main application of evaporation ponds is to help separate salts from water, and they can also be effectively used to remove hazardous waste from water.

Geomembranes

Evaporation ponds are also typically made of clay, but the use of HDPE geomembranes offers numerous benefits. The main advantage is its water resistance. Geomembrane is the best choice for this application, even in harsh environments.

Geomembranes are durable and have excellent chemical resistance to salts, which is important as geomembranes are exposed to salt water for long periods of time.
